Cairo ships 423 kg of Sukkari gold to be sold abroad

Cairo International Airport authorities shipped 423 kilograms of gold ore from the Sukkari gold mine on Thursday to Canada via Frankfurt to be purified and sold on the international stock exchange.

The shipment arrived two days ago in 22 parcels on a private plane from Marsa Alam, according to a Cairo International Airport official.

The gold will be purified and sold on the international stock exchange. The revenue will be divided between the Centamin company, the Australian partner in the mine and the Egyptian government in accordance to an agreement concluded between both sides.

The Sukkari gold mine is one of the largest ten gold mines in the world.
