CAPMAS: 21.4 percent decline in trade balance deficit

Trade balance deficit reached LE18.04 billion in December 2013, compared to LE22.95 billion in December 2012, marking 21.4 percent decrease.
 
Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in its monthly bulletin over the foreign trade of December 2013 that exports declined by 3.1 percent reaching LE16.82 billion in December 2013 compared to LE17.35 billion in December 2012. The agency attributed the decline to the decrease of value of some items like fertilizers, petroleum products, crude oil and others.
 
Regarding the imports, CAPMAS said it declined by 13.5 percent reaching LE34.86 billion in December 2013, compared to LE40.30 billion in December 2012. The decline is attributed also to decrease of value of some goods like wheat, petroleum products, crude oil, vehicles, organic and non-organic chemical substances.
