Clashes erupted in Shubra among a group of supporters of the deposed president, Mohamed Morsy, and local residents.

Ten people were reportedly injured in the clashes, Muhamed Sultan, head of the Egyptian emergency services told privately-owned satellite channel ONTV.

A pro-Morsy march headed from Nour mosque in Abbasseya following Friday prayers on the way to Rabea al-Adaweya mosque to join the major "anti-coup" sit-in there.

Protesters chanted anti-military slogans such as “Down with military rule,” “Leave Sisi” and “The people want to end the coup."

Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi called on Egyptians to take to squares on Friday to mandate him to confront "violence and possible terrorism."
