Companies may start transporting money via air due to security concerns

Private security companies and banks may start transporting money in South Sinai via air due to the lack of security there, said Major General Adel Emara, the head of the security division at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce.

The governorate's security chief issued an order to find an alternative to money-transfer vehicles due to the Interior Ministry's inability to secure them, Emara told Al-Masry Al-Youm on Monday, adding that there was a high rate of burglary over the past year.

Some companies have started taking precautionary measures to protect the personnel transporting the money, such as equipping them with bullet-proof vests, Emara said.

Thefts have increased across the country in recent months. Several private security companies have seen their operational costs rise as they heighten security around their establishments and for their money-transfer vehicles, due to the growing dangers faced by their personnel.
