Company owner referred to trial over layoffs

The Suez top prosecutor Ahmed Abdel Halim referred the owner of the Integrated Oil Industries Company in Suez to trial over not paying the company's workers their salaries and suspending work at the company without a permission from the Manpower Ministry.

Hundreds of company workers filed claims against the company head over laying off 480 workers and not paying their salaries.

They also staged recently many protests at Suez Governorate headquarters.

The company head submitted a request to the Manpower Ministry demanding to shut down the company but was turned down.
