Decreasing internet prices aims to spread service in Egypt

Minister of Communications Khaled Negm said on Friday that a decision recently made to decrease internet prices in Egypt aims to spread internet services in the country for all Egyptians to be able to go online.

He added that the decision is meant to attract an additional 1.5 million users to purchase internet services by 2016.

This came on the sidelines of the graduation ceremony of new trainees at the National Telecommunication Institute.

He pointed out that another decision to cancel 256-Kbps and 512-Kbps services aims to develop a digital community and government.

Meanwhile, Negm has called on other internet providers to follow up the policy of transparency and openness with clients in announcing the maximum limit for use.

Recently, TE data, the country's internet operator, announced new prices of internet after being approved by the National Telecom Regulatory Authority.
