Duba-Hurghada ferry route to stop on Friday until end of May

Red Sea Port Authority have suspended transfer of passengers and vehicles via ferries on the navigational route between Hurghada and the Saudi Duba ports starting Friday until end of May.

The last maritime trip took place via Riyad ferry heading to Duba, while the Masarrah ferry was ordered to work on Duba-Safaga route, instead of Duba-Hurghada, the authority added.

Hundreds of baggage handlers staged a protest and closed the platforms and refused to discharge loads of Riyad ferry coming from Duba.

They called for intervention of transportation minister and that the two ferries Riyad and Masarrah continue to work on the Duba-Hurghada route.

Hundreds of workers of the baggage handlers association in Hurghada seaport sent complaint to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi demanding resumption of work at the seaport to receive passengers coming from the Gulf countries through the Duba-Hurghada route, after the authority decided to halt the passenger ferries and working only on the irregular tourist trips.
