The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts a continued gradual rise in temperatures across most parts of the country on Sunday.
Temperatures will be hot during the day in most areas and mild in the early evening, turning cooler at night and the early morning.
Weather maps warn of fog formation until 10:00 am, which may occasionally be dense on some roads leading to and from northern Egypt – including Greater Cairo, central Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt.
The EMA urged drivers to exercise the utmost caution, and to avoid driving under zero visibility.
It also advised that drivers use fog lights, keep a safe distance between other vehicles, use their windshield wipers continuously, open their windows to prevent condensation inside the car, and use their car horn to let other drivers know of their presence.
There will be a chance of light to moderate rainfall with occasional thunder in areas of Halayeb, Shalateen, and Marsa Alam, alongside a chance of light rainfall in areas of the far west of the country (Salloum and Matrouh) and further south (Abu Simbel and Aswan).
Satellite imagery has detected some low clouds over areas from northern Egypt to Greater Cairo, the Suez Canal cities, and central Sinai.
The EMA also forecasts heightened wind activity in parts of Upper Egypt and the cities of Halayeb and Shalateen, occasionally stirring up dust and sand.
Expected temperatures on Sunday:
- Matrouh: 24C
- Alexandria: 27C
- Hurghada: 30C
- Cairo and Sharm El-Sheikh: 32C
- Luxor and Aswan: 34C
