Egypt, France’s Accor discuss major hotel expansion plans

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed the Egyptian government’s keenness to support and strengthen cooperation with French hospitality group Accor, expressing hope that more of the company’s hotel brands will enter the Egyptian market.

During a meeting with Accor Chairman and CEO Sébastien Bazin, attended by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy, Madbouly discussed the company’s plans to expand in Egypt, increase investment in tourism and hospitality, and explore new investment opportunities offered by the government.The prime minister said Egypt is providing more investment opportunities in tourism, particularly in destinations with strong natural and tourism potential, and called for continued coordination with Accor to develop a joint plan for future expansion and investment.

For his part, Bazin said Accor views Egypt as an important strategic partner and sees significant opportunities for expansion as the country’s tourism product and services continue to develop. He said the French group plans to add around 25,000 new hotel rooms in Egypt over the next three years, while diversifying its brands to suit the characteristics of different destinations.

Bazin also stressed the importance of authenticity and quality, saying hotel experiences should reflect Egypt’s culture and local identity.He highlighted the need to continue upgrading existing Accor hotels and offered to share the company’s international expertise in developing hotel and tourism products.He also proposed cooperation with the Egyptian government to establish a specialized hospitality academy in Egypt to train and qualify tourism and hotel workers according to international standards while reflecting Egyptian culture.

Fathy said Accor’s expansion plans align with Egypt’s tourism growth targets and the need to increase high-quality hotel capacity.

He highlighted opportunities to boost arrivals from France and called for stronger joint marketing between Egypt and Accor, using the company’s international network to attract more tourists.The two sides agreed to continue coordination on new investment opportunities, developing existing projects, expanding hotel brands, and cooperation in training and skills development to support Egypt’s efforts to increase hotel capacity and diversify its tourism offerings.
