Egypt places second in African Men’s Handball Championship

Monday was a bitter day for the Egyptian national men’s’ handball team as Egypt lost the final to Tunisia, while placing second in the African Handball Championship held in Gabon, qualifying to the 2019 World Championship which will be taking place between Germany and Denmark.

It was a nail-biting match as Egypt ended the first half on top with a favorable score. However, it did not last as Tunisia went striking back, winning by the score of 26-24.

While Egypt has been the reigning champion of the African championship, Tunisia has now knocked Egypt off of its throne.

Egypt comes third in the most African championships ever won. With six championship wins, Egypt comes third after Algeria with seven titles and Tunisia who has won 10 titles.

However, this year, the road for Egypt has been tricky from the beginning of the championship.  Even in its opening match, Egypt struggled to beat Morocco with a close score of 33-28.
