Egypt PM announces Hijri New Year holiday

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Tuesday issued a decree concerning the upcoming holiday for Hijri New Year 1441.

Madbouly decided that the holiday for government institutions will be on the first day of Muharram, the first month in the lunar Islamic calendar, in accordance with the sightings of the crescent moon.

The statement didn’t set a specific date according to the Gregorian calendar, but said that this date will be determined in accordance with sightings of the crescent moon.
