Egypt rejected Qatari, Turkish requests to increase flights: minister

Abdel Aziz Fadel, Minister of Civil Aviation in Prime Minister Hazem al-Beblawy's Cabinet, revealed the government rejected Qatari and Turkish requests to increase the number of flights between Egypt and the respective countries.

The refusal came despite both countries' "strong insistence," according to Fadel.

The minister pointed out the step would not benefit Egypt.

Fadel said that the Ministry of Aviation has started to review all air transport agreements between Egypt and other countries in accordance with Egyptian interests. He said the ministry has not cancelled any agreement with both countries.

Relations between Egypt on the one hand and Qatar and Turkey on the other deteriorated after 30 June due to their support for toppled President Mohamed Morsy.
