Egypt reopens Rafah border crossing between North Sinai, Gaza Strip

Egypt on Sunday has reopened the Rafah border crossing between North Sinai and the Gaza Strip in both directions, allowing Palestinians to pass through after the crossing was closed on January 24 and 25.

An official source at the crossing border said that there was coordination with the Palestinian government on opening the crossing, allowing students, patients, holders of residence in Egypt and returnees from treatment, business trips or visits from abroad to pass through the crossing.

Around 214 passengers including 158 people from the Gaza strip to Egypt and 56 persons from Egypt to the Gaza strip passed through the crossing in both directions, the sources added, adding that several trucks loaded with humanitarian and food aid entered the Gaza Strip.
