107 percent increase in touristic nights spent in Egypt

The number of touristic nights spent in Egypt increased by 107 percent and the average per capital expenditure rose by more than 9 percent compared to the same period of 2016, said Hisham al-Demiry, chairman of the Tourism Authority, in a press conference on Monday.
The improved tourism rates are the result of systematic promotional campaigns in 11 countries that have been ongoing since mid-September 2016 and the lifting of travel ban to Egypt by most of the European countries, Demiry explained.
In an bid to continue the efforts started in 2016 to promote tourism, the Egyptian Tourism Authority announced its plan to launch a new promotional campaign for Egypt in the Italian market as part of a wider campaign in several European countries.
The campaign will continue for three consecutive weeks via 13 television channels that have the highest viewership.
It will also be promoted online through social networking websites, Demiry added.
Demiry pointed out that Italian tourism improved significantly during the first quarter of 2017. The authority previously reported that the number of tourists to Egypt by 51 percent in this period.
