Russia said Wednesday it was negotiating with Egypt for the supply of 40 passenger jets.
Russian news agency Tass quoted Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov as telling Rossiya 24 TV as saying that Egypt’s national airliner was eyeing 40 SSJ-100 jets.
“This is a big and ambitious project, which will ensure the loading of our production capacities for the near future,” the minister said.
“Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) previously planned to transfer to EgyptAir 12 SSJ-100 jets for trade-in with an option for 12 more jets. A trade-in option for 15 Embraer-170 aircraft was also discussed with the Egyptian airline,” the agency said.
