EgyptAir seat occupancy down 50%

EgyptAir’s seat occupancy has fallen 50% due to political events taking place in the country, said Egyptian Civil Aviation Minister Ibrahim Mannaa on Wednesday. EgyptAir is Egypt's most major airline company.

“Many hotel and airline bookings were canceled after the Balloon Theatre clashes of 28 June,” the minister said. “Tourists want stability."

“We now depend more on Umrah and Hajj trips,” he explained.

Manna also said ongoing protests caused traffic in Egyptian airports to decline by up to 35 percent.
