Egyptian Interior Ministry to finger Alex church blast culprits imminently

Interior Minister Habib al-Adly plans to reveal the identities of the perpetrators of the New Year's Eve church bombing in Alexandria within hours, according to official sources. The same sources also said the minister would provide details of the attack.

They added that all accused persons–which purportedly include Egyptian and Arab nationals–would be referred to the State Security Prosecution for investigation.

Among the accused is Khaled Mohamed Mahmoud, the Egyptian leader of the so-called "Army of Islam" organization, who reportedly fled to Gaza after being accused of a 2009 bombing in Cairo's historic Hussein district.

Mahmoud's wife, Fatma Moussa, had also been accused of involvement in the Hussein attack but was later released.

A Belgian national also accused of involvement in the Hussein bombing reportedly told investigators that Mahmoud was directly involved in the Alexandria church attack, claiming that he and others had been trained by the Army of Islamin Gaza to carry out terrorist attacks in Egypt.
