Egyptian museum displays Oedipus panel for first time

The Egyptian Museum started on Monday displaying an artifact that has not been displayed before following its restoration, said museum general supervisor Khaled al-Anany on Tuesday.

The displayed artifact is the Oedipus Panel, which is part of the wall of a house in west Hermopolis in Minya governorate and dates back to the second century AD, said Anany.

The panel represents the myth of Oedipus of the Greek tragedy poet Sophocles, he added.

The ministry displays an artifact that has not been displayed before at the beginning of every month as a new initiative to promote tourism to the museum.
