Egypt’s Sisi holds phone talks with the new Israeli Prime Minister

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi made a phone call on Monday morning with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett as he resumed his duties, succeeding former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Egypt’s presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady said during the call that Sisi affirmed Egypt’s support for all efforts to reach a just and lasting solution between Palestine and Israel for comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

Sisi also stressed the importance of preventing the escalation of tensions between the Palestinians and Israelis, as well as the importance of supporting Egyptian efforts to rebuild the Palestinian territories alongside the development of bilateral relations.

For his part, the Israeli Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s efforts to achieve security and stability in the region, such as with its recent ceasefire agreement and its sponsorship of prisoner exchange negotiations.

Bennett praised the results achieved since the two countries signed the peace agreement until now, under US auspices.
