EU imposes harsh sanctions on Sudanese RSF second-in-command

The European Union (EU) announced the imposition of sanctions on the second-in-command of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan, Abdelrahim Hamdan Dagalo (who is the brother and deputy of RSF Commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo), over accusations of committing violations, as the civil war between the RSF and the Sudanese Army continues.

The EU announced a travel ban to its member states and an asset freeze against Dagalo, while expressing its strongest condemnation of the continuous and grave atrocities being committed by the RSF in Sudan, including those following the capture of Al-Fashir city.

It pointed out that the ethnically motivated killings and systematic sexual violence may constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity.
