European Union grants Egypt 100 million euros

The European Union granted Egypt 100 million euros to be allocated to labor-intensive projects in the poorest villages, said Ghada Wali, secretary general of the Social Fund.

On the sidelines of the Euromoney conference on Monday, Wali said the Social Fund will receive the grant next month. “The fund is also receiving a grant of US$200 million from the World Bank to be spent on infrastructure projects that have been damaged following the 25 January revolution,” she said.

Wali noted that the fund is announcing a new policy to combat poverty next week in collaboration with the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics but declined to disclose details.
