Expat registration for parliamentary elections to close on Saturday

The deadline for Egyptian expatriates to register for the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled to start 28 November will be next Saturday, announced the Supreme Judicial Committee for Elections (SJCE).

The number of Egyptian expatriates who have registered up until now has reached 255,000, said Yousry Abdel Karim, head of the technical bureau at the high elections committee.

Until Friday the majority of those registered were Egyptians in Saudi Arabia, who total 101,879, said Abdel Karim.

The SJCE also announced Friday the final lists of candidates for both single-winner and list-based constituencies, Abdel Karim added.

Copies of candidate lists were hung on the walls of police stations and courts in governorates around Egypt, suggesting that all claims challenging candidate nominations have been decided.

Abdel Karim told Al-Masry Al-Youm that moving forward, appeals against candidacies will be referred to the Supreme Administrative Court.
