Facebook users hit 2.7 billion worldwide, 38 million in Egypt: Director

Facebook’s Regional Director of Public Policies in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Nashwa Ali announced that Facebook users jumped to 2.7 billion world wide, with 38 million daily users in Egypt.

Ali added that the users of Facebook hit 181 million monthly in the MENA while users of WhatsApp, Instagram and Messanger totaled 2 billion a month.

Ali also revealed that Facebook has recently launched the “Facebook Community Leadership Program” initiative, which provides creative leaders with new social media tools to help in improving their communities, such as creating “The Dependent Mothers of Egypt” group which supports the mothers through difficult decisions.

She said that above 81 percent of female entrepreneurs used Facebook to establish their small projects, and their usage on Facebook mostly focused on organizing events and collecting donations.

Ali added that 70 percent of female entrepreneurs also used Facebook for guiding another female entrepreneur to establish projects.
