First Egyptian wrestler wins gold since 2006

Egyptian Wrestler Mohammed Ibrahim “Kisho” won the golden medal in the 2018 World U23 Wrestling Championships at 67 kg on Wednesday, being the first to do so in 12 years.

Kisho defeated 2012 Cadet World champion Karim Jafarov of Azerbaijan 8-0, in the final match.

It marks the first golden medal in Egypt’s record during the U-23 championships, and the second medal in the current championship in Romania, after Abdel Latif Mohamed earned a bronze medal at 130 kg.

The Egyptian Wrestling Team is taking part in the U23 World Championships in Romania from November 12 to 19, without a head of mission.
