First parliament session to be broadcast live: official

The first session of the House of Representatives, which will be held on Sunday, will be broadcast live on-air, said head of Maspero news sector Safaa Hegazy in a statement Monday.

The live broadcast will include the MPs being sworn-in and the selection of the speaker and his two deputies.

State TV will only broadcast the first session live, and the House of Representatives has yet to decide on whether the rest of the sessions will be recorded or aired live, according to Hegazy.

Maspero sources meanwhile said that some MPs insist on not broadcasting sessions live on-air.

The first session will be aired on Nile News channel, Sawt al-Shaab channel, the First channel and Egyptian satellite channel, the sources added. There will be an analytical studio where MPs will be hosted during the breaks between each session, according to the sources.
