Flooding causes accident in Minya, killing 8

Eight people were killed on Wednesday in a school bus accident near Barsha, a town in Upper Egypt's Minya Governorate.

Authorities attribute the accident to widespread flooding.

Two other passengers are missing, sources said. The bus was carrying teachers and students from al-Walidiya elementary girls school.

Security forces managed to rescue one student, who is currently hospitalized.

Experts believe inclement weather conditions will continue through Friday in Egypt's eastern regions, with heavy rainfall in Sinai and the Red Sea areas, in addition to other regions in Upper Egypt. They also predict mild rains along the country's northern coast.

Maritime movement difficulties in the Mediterranean and the Red Sea are expected to persist.

Egypt has been experiencing tumultuous weather recently, causing several deaths and forcing seaports to close.
