FM: Egypt pushes expansion of renewable energy projects

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stressed on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, the importance of expanding renewable energy projects, describing them as a priority sector on the government’s agenda.

During a meeting with the CEO of Norway’s Scatec Terje Pilskog, Abdelatty said the talks aimed to strengthen economic cooperation between Egypt and Norway, particularly in renewable energy investments.

He praised the existing partnership with the Norwegian company and called for further expansion to boost economic and investment ties, highlighting Egypt’s efforts to attract foreign direct investment and support private sector participation.

The minister also welcomed Scatec’s plans to increase its investments in Egypt, citing the company’s role in establishing partnerships to localize industry and develop large-scale projects.

Abdelatty said Egypt is advancing its green economy strategy and aims to become a regional hub for green hydrogen production, reaffirming full government support for the company’s projects.

He also pointed to opportunities for trilateral cooperation in Africa in renewable energy projects to support sustainable development across the continent.
