FM, EU Foreign Policy Chief discuss regional developments

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a phone call on Sunday, May 24, 2026, with European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas to discuss regional developments.

The phone call included an exchange of views on the course of US-Iran negotiations and developments in the region, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf said.

Abdelatty briefed the European official on the latest developments regarding Egypt’s strenuous efforts aimed at calming tensions and reducing escalation in coordination with regional partners.

He stressed the importance of adhering to the diplomatic track and prioritizing dialogue in a manner that preserves the security and stability of the countries and peoples of the region, as well as ensures freedom of international navigation.

For her part, the European official praised the role played by Egypt in supporting efforts to reduce regional escalation, affirming her aspiration to continue coordination and consultation within the framework of close relations between Egypt and the European Union.
