FM, EU high representative discuss regional efforts to de-escalate tensions

CAIRO, April 13 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a phone call on Monday with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas as part of ongoing consultations on efforts to de-escalate military tensions in the region.

During the call, Abdelatty briefed the EU official on Egypt’s intensive efforts, in coordination with regional partners, to contain tensions and promote de-escalation.

The two sides also exchanged assessments of the regional situation following the US-Iran talks held in Islamabad.

In this regard, the foreign minister stressed the importance of concerted regional and international efforts, including those of the European Union, to advance diplomacy and political solutions.

Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination and consultations within the framework of the close relations and strategic partnership between Egypt and the European Union, while stepping up joint efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region. (MENA)
