Foreign Ministry not concerned by latest Dubai police chief statements

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Amr Roshdy said Friday that the ministry does not comment on statements made by other countries' officials, in reference to the statements of Dubai police head Dahi Khalfan.

Rosdy said in a statement quoted by state-run news agency MENA that the UAE has formerly stressed the personal nature of Khalfan's comments, adding that Egypt was not concerned by his statements.

Khalfan attacked the Muslim Brotherhood again on Wednesday on his Twitter account, saying, "The Muslim Brotherhood was reared on insults, lies and fabrication, so it is natural that they insult the devout worshippers of God."

"The worst thing the Muslim Brotherhood does is discrediting and demonizing all practices of Gulf governments as if they do nothing at all," Khalfan wrote.

He continued: "Fool is the one who thinks that Dahi stands against a specific person, but the security of the Gulf is a red line. If a Gulf state crumbled and fell at the hands of the [forces] of darkness, there would be no peace.”

Khalfan published comments on Twitter in June criticizing the election of President Mohamed Morsy, former head of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party. Khalfan’s comments caused a diplomatic spat between the group and the UAE.

“[Morsy] will come crawling to the Gulf, and we will not receive him on a red carpet. He will kiss the hands of the custodian of the two holy mosques as [Muslim Brotherhood founder] Hassan al-Banna did with King Abdul Aziz,” Khalfan wrote in June.
