
CAIRO, Oct 30 (MENA) – France’s Culture Minister Rachida Dati will pay a visit to Egypt on Saturday to attend the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) on behalf of French President Emmanuel Macron.
In a press statement released on Thursday, the French Embassy in Cairo said the visit is an opportunity for the culture minister to meet key actors concerned with French-Egyptian cultural relations and to follow up on various projects outlined during Macron’s visit to Egypt from 6 to 8 April 2025, particularly with regard to cultural cooperation between the two countries.
The French minister will also have meetings with Egyptian professionals from the film industry, focusing particularly on issues related to training and French-Egyptian co-production, the statement added.
She will also meet young creators and cultural entrepreneurs as part of preparations for the 2026 Mediterranean Season, the statement read.
The minister will also visit Diwan Bookstore, which recently signed a partnership with Gallimard publishing house to publish works of French literature in Egypt for the first time, the statement concluded. (MENA)
