Palestinian Minister of Justice, Sharhabil Al-Zaeem, stated that the efforts of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and the Egyptian and Qatari mediation teams had a significant impact on reaching the ceasefire agreement.
In a phone interview with journalist Mohamed Abdelrahman on the “Hatha Al-Masa’a” (This Evening) program via Al-Qahera News Channel, Al-Zaeem announced: “The largest square in Gaza City, which we will rebuild, God willing, will be named ‘Egypt Square,’ in recognition of the Egyptian efforts, and there will also be a square named after Qatar, in recognition of the Qatari efforts.”
He stressed that the combined Egyptian and Qatari efforts succeeded in halting the ongoing genocide, adding that the immense work undertaken by President Sisi will remain etched in the Palestinian memory for generations to come.
Al-Zaeem noted that Israel will proceed with this agreement due to the commitments made by US President Donald Trump, despite the dissenting statements from far-right ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich.
Consequently, Israel has international obligations it cannot abandon, even though it frequently attempts to evade and sidestep its commitments. A clear example of this is the fact that Palestinians are still waiting for the establishment of the Palestinian state, which should have been founded five years after the signing of the Oslo Accords.
