Gunmen fire on Sheikh Zuwayed police station

Unknown gunmen fired on the Sheikh Zuwayed Police Station in North Sinai Tuesday.

 

No casualties were reported.

Eyewitnesses said the gunmen arrived in a car and opened fire on the police station. Security forces exchanged fire before the gunmen escape.

No arrests were made.

Sixteen people, including civilians, police officers and military personnel, have been killed in gunmen attacks in the Sinai Peninsula in the last 10 days.

Sinai has witnessed a spike in violence since the overthrow of Islamist President Mohamed Morsy in a military-led ouster on 3 July.
