Several stations in central Israel were breached after hackers gained control of their internal broadcasting systems and broadcast audio recordings.
The AlQahera News reported on Thursday evening that hackers broadcast recordings from the military spokesperson for Ezz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement, Abu Obaida, along with Arabic songs and siren sounds, causing confusion among those at the stations.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced in August that the Israeli army had assassinated Abu Obaida.
According to Channel 14, Hebrew leaks confirmed that the operation was carried out by the Israeli army in partnership with the Shin Bet security service, in a closed operations room, after receiving highly accurate intelligence information about Abu Obaida’s movements.
The Israeli media at the time described the operation as a “devastating blow to the resistance leadership.”
Former Israeli Army spokesperson Avichai Adraee also announced the assassination of Hudhaifa al-Kahlout, known as Abu Obaida.
He stated that the operation to assassinate Abu Obaida was managed from the Shin Bet’s operations room, thanks to prior intelligence gathered by the Shin Bet and Military Intelligence, which indicated his hiding place.
Channel 14 reported at the time that the Israeli security establishment had received final confirmation of Abu Obaida’s assassination in an airstrike on the Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City, using precision munitions and aerial surveillance.
