The Ministry of Health and Population announced the issuance of 333,277 decisions for treatment of citizens at state expense, in all governorates of the republic, at a total cost of more than LE 1.8 billion during November 2023.

In a statement issued on Saturday 09/12/2023, the ministry’s Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said that this comes under directives of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to lift the burden on patients, by providing medical services such as surgeries, medicines and medical examinations at the expense of the state.

Abdel Ghaffar explained the decisions included treatment of patients suffering from in blood diseases, tumors, nose and ear, surgery, sciatica, eyes, bones, tracts, and internal diseases, in addition to skin and neurological problems.

He pointed out that 461 patients in various governorates were examined through the “video conferencing” technology, to obtain treatment decisions without the need to come to the administration headquarters.

For his part, Mohamed Zaidan, the Head of the Specialized Medical Councils, indicated that citizens who requested the “Integrated Services Card” were subjected to medical examinations through medical examination committees nationwide.

Zaidan pointed out that the procedures for issuing a decision to request treatment at the expense of the state begin with going to the nearest government hospital in the patient’s governorate, and conducting medical examinations to diagnose the condition by hospital doctors, in preparation for issuing the “tripartite committee report.”

He added that the specialized employee in the treatment department at the hospital records the patient’s data on the electronic network of the specialized medical councils.

The data includes a copy of the national number card, the tripartite committee report, the medical report and recent research so that the treatment decision is issued electronically from the main center of the medical councils in Cairo.
