High election committee provides an extra 5000 ballot boxes

The high election committee delivered more than 5000 ballot boxes to polling stations around Egypt, as available boxes were filled with ballot papers, said head of the committee’s technical office, Councilor Yossri Abdel Karim, on Tuesday.

The proportion of judges arriving late to ballot stations is less than 0.001 percent in the first phase of elections, and involves only 10 judges, said high election committee head Abdel Moez Ibrahim.

“We won’t close any ballot stations around Egypt until all citizens have the opportunity to cast their votes,” he added in a press statement.

“Results for the individual parliamentary seats will be announced Wednesday in all governorates after the vote count is done.”

For the list-based system, the vote count will be announced, but not the results, he added.

Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamil Amr presented a report on expatriate votes, as results of vote counts have been reported from more than 100 embassies.

Egyptian expatriate participation ranges between 60% – 70% of registered expatriate voters, Amr said.
