The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts continued hot and humid weather across most of the country on Monday.
The weather will be mild at night and during the early morning hours, while hot and humid conditions will prevail during the day in northern Egypt – including Greater Cairo and northern Upper Egypt.
Southern Upper Egypt will see very hot weather, while temperatures will be mild across most of the country.
The EMA noted that the high humidity levels will increase the perceived temperature by one to two degrees compared to the actual temperature in the shade.
Greater Cairo is expected to reach 33C, while northern Upper Egypt will reach 35C and southern Upper Egypt 39C.
The northwestern coast will see temperatures of 28C.
Winds will be active intermittently across most of the country, possibly stirring up sand and dust in the exposed areas of southern Upper Egypt and the Red Sea Governorate.
The EMA predicts a very slight chance of light, scattered rain in some areas along the northern coast and northern Lower Egypt, with the possibility of low clouds in the morning that could help moderate the weather.
The authority urged citizens to follow official weather forecasts and take necessary precautions, especially given the high temperatures and humidity – coinciding with large gatherings to watch the Egyptian national team’s World Cup matches.
