Interior Ministry bribed Beni Suef victims to change testimonies, says lawyer

Emad Ibrahim, a lawyer representing revolutionary martyrs in Beni Suef, dropped a bombshell on Tuesday during the fourth session of the case into the killing of demonstrators during the revolution, in which former Security Director Ahmed Shawqi and 12 others are charged.

Ibrahim said the Interior Ministry issued checks totalling LE120,000 to four plaintiffs who were wounded by security forces, in return for changing their testimonies.

The victims filed a report against Mohamed Tanbash, the fourth defendant, saying he tried to force them to accept their share of the money and drop the lawsuit.

The lawyer of the defendants requested that his clients, who are still free, should not be detained by police.

The court was adjourned until 13 October.
