Israel commits horrific new massacre at Al-Maghazi camp – here’s what you need to know

The Israeli occupation army continues its aggression against the Gaza Strip for the 80th day, carrying out ground incursions, air bombardments, and deploying fire belts in various areas of the Strip killing thousands by the way.

The occupation forces intensified its air strikes and artillery shelling, which targeted some camps housing displaced Palestinians in the central Gaza Strip.
The Al-Maghazi camp was the latest victim of Israel’s ruthless bombardments, with up to 70 killed in a preliminary toll of the latest attack.
What do we know about Al-Maghazi camp?

The camp is located in the center of the Gaza Strip, to the south of Al-Bureij Camp.
The al-Maghazi camp was established in 1949, and is the smallest camp in the Gaza Strip, both in terms of size and population. Known for its narrow alleys, approximately 24,000 refugees live in an area not exceeding 0.6 square kilometers.
Ministry of Health in Gaza reports gruesome toll

The spokesperson for the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza Ashraf Al-Qudra categorically denounced the war crimes taking place in Al-Maghazi camp.
What happened in the evening amounted to the annihilation of an entire residential square, he said, and added that while the preliminary toll reports 70 causalities the number is expected to increase as more residents are dug out from the rubble.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Health in Gaza pointed out that the Israeli occupation directs residents to places of mass killing in areas it claims are safe.

Earlier, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced in a statement, that the toll of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip since October 7 have risen to 20,424 dead and 54,036 injured.

“166 martyrs and 384 injuries in the Gaza Strip during the past 24 hours,” the statement reads.

On the Israeli side, more than 15 soldiers were killed during the past three days. The Israeli army announced the killing of two more soldiers on Monday, bringing the death toll of its forces operating on the ground in Gaza to 156.

Hamas slams massacre on the camp

Hamas issued a statement denouncing the latest massacre in the Maghazi camp.

It called the attack a new war crime, serving as an extension of its genocidal war against Gaza’s civilians, which include children.

It proclaimed that the Israeli occupation’s treacherous and cowardly bombing of innocent people is an attempt to restore the image of its defeated army.
