Jordan agrees to negotiate price revisions for Egyptian gas exports

Jordanian authorities have sent official letters to the Egyptian Petroleum Ministry to indicate their willingness to renegotiate the prices of natural gas imports from Egypt.

“This is the final step before the ministers of petroleum of both countries sign a new agreement in Cairo,” explained Hassan al-Mahdy, president of the Natural Gas Holding Company.

“Egypt will make more profits under the new agreement,” he said, adding that the new prices would be announced once negotiations with other parties have been completed.

A Petroleum Ministry official said Egypt would make an additional US$250 million in profit under the new agreement.
