Man arrested in Tahrir Square selling ancient statuette

Security services arrested a man in Tahrir Square while selling an ancient statuette.

The man, a farmer from Minya, found the statuette buried in his land. He agreed with four others to sell it to them for LE400,000. But when they met in Tahrir Square, they disagreed on the amount and started fighting, drawing the attention of the police.

The police seized the one-meter statuette, which dates back to the pharaonic era, and a deposit of LE20,000 the man had received.
