Military court upholds jail verdicts for 18 MB members

The Supreme Court for Military Appeals on Tuesday upheld earlier military court verdicts against 18 members of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) opposition movement charged with "affiliation with a banned group," including MB Second Deputy General Guide Khairat el-Shater. The verdicts range from three to ten years each in prison.

"It’s a political decision made at a time when everyone is preoccupied with Egypt’s grudge match against Algeria," MB lawyer Abdel Moneim Abdel Maqsoud said of the ruling.
