Military investigates officers shown torturing citizens in video

The Military Prosecution has started investigations into four members of the civilian and military police who were videoed torturing citizens accused of drug dealing and acts of thuggery. The video was uploaded on YouTube.

The incident allegedly took place at the Al-Kordy Police Station in Daqahlia.

Hussein Tantawi, president of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, had referred the case to Major General Adel al-Marasy, head of the Military Judicial Authority.  

A military source told the Middle East News Agency that two of the officers assaulted the accused, but it was not proven that the other two took part.
