Military spokesperson: Eleven alleged extremists killed in Sinai

Military Spokesperson Mohamed Samir declared the killing of 11 alleged extremists in the Sinai Peninsula on Sunday after a heavy exchange of fire with military troops.

Egyptian troops were fired upon by mortar missiles, anti-craft machine guns and bombs, though no casualties were reported.

In a statement on Facebook on Monday, Samir said 12 vehicles without licence plates allegedly used by terrorists were seized and destroyed.

“Forty-seven safe havens for terrorists, including 25 shelters and eight underground stores, were destroyed,” he added.
