Minister: Expanding social security fund investments in stock market possible

Social Solidarity Minister Ghada Wali said the ministry is considering the expansion of its social security fund investments in the stock market.
 
This announcement came during the minister’s speech at the Stock Exchange conference Tuesday.
 
“We currently invest 2 percent of the funds in the stock market, which has yielded 29 percent in returns,” she said. “This was twice as much as other investment pools we have.”
 
She said social security fund investments in the stock market in the United States are 57 percent and 13 percent in Saudi Arabia.
 
“We haveLE600 billion pounds, of which we can invest LE100 billion,” she said.
