Ministry: IED caused blast near old Israeli embassy office

No injuries were caused by an IED blast that hit the Cairo University Bridge late Tuesday, the Interior Ministry's media office said.

The statement said the explosion only made mild damages to two private vehicles at the area where the old office of the Israeli embassy is located.

Giza security chief Kamal al-Daly told Al-Masry Al-Youm an IED was planted over the bridge to target the forces securing the old embassy building, but the primitively-made bomb was of a limited effect.

He said forces combed the area and that a security camera fitted at a nearby building was confiscated in order to review its recordings and identify the perpetrators.
