More torture accusations at police stations

Amr Farghaly, a resident of Manial, said an officer from the Old Cairo Police Station arrested his father nine days ago and took him to the station where he died of low blood circulation, according to the police.

“When I saw his body, I found injuries to the head and foot,” he said. “The doctor told me these are traces of torture and asked me if I wanted an autopsy, which I refused because I know body parts are usually stolen during autopsies.”

In a related development, a housewife named Amal Abdallah Ahmed said five police officers from the Salam Police Station refused to file a report against a thug who had kidnapped her 16-year-old daughter and her friend at gunpoint and tried to rape them. The girls managed to get away from the man.

“One of the officers took my daughter into a room for an hour, beat her and electrified her, claiming she had fabricated the story,” she said.
