Morsi dismissed from university position over absence

Minister of Higher Education al-Sayed Abdel Khaleq has confirmed that former President Mohamed Morsi has been dismissed from his position at Zagazig University, for not showing up for work.

The Minister stated on Sunday that Morsi used to hold an official post (President of the Republic) and did not return to work after leaving his position as president. He added that the decision regarding his dismissal was made by the university council, who consider Morsi's failure to take up his previous position at the university to be an absence from work.

Abdel Khaleq further clarified that the university sent a request to the ministry to consult its legal councellor, Dr. Salah Fawzy, regarding Morsi's legal status at the university, following the imprisonment sentence issued against him.
