Morsy’s investment minister jailed for slapping child in 2013

The Azbakiya Misdemeanor Court on Wednesday sentenced a Mohamed Morsy-era minister to one year in jail for slapping a child whom he said he had heard badmouthing the former president.

Investigations had found that former investment minister Yahia Hamed was present at a protest by Morsy supporters in Ramses Street following the former leader’s ouster in July 2013, when he heard the young boye Ahmed Osama shouting, “May you be doomed, Morsy.”

Upon hearing him, Hamed slapped the kid on the face, according to prosecutors who said Osama had managed to recognize the former minister’s photo when he filed the complaint.

Investigators say they hold CDs and video clips who verifying the incident.
