Moussa: We need evidence to label the whole MB as terrorists

Amr Moussa, the head of the committee that drafted the amendments to the constitution, said that there is a terrorist current within the Muslim Brotherhood, but to describe the whole group as terrorists would need sufficient evidence.

“Are all the Brotherhood terrorists, or are there exceptions?” Moussa wondered in his interview with Al-Masry Al-Youm. “Is there a terrorist current [within the MB]? Yes, there is, and when violence piles up it becomes terrorism.”

“This does not mean that the MB don't have popular supporters, but it is important that these supporters be part of Egyptian society,” he added.

“On the story of their dream of the return of Morsy, they should know that it will not happen,” Moussa noted. “They should reconstruct their position, since being opponents shall never allow them to use violence, because it would only bring about more violence.”

Moussa said that being against the constitution is fine, and a natural act by the Brotherhood, but if any group attempts to use violence to sabotage the Constitution, it would be unacceptable.

Holding the referendum and securing it is the responsibility of Higher Elections Committee, Justice Ministry and the Supreme Judicial Council, and they shall take all necessary measures to secure the referendum, Moussa noted.

In the case the Constitution is voted down, Moussa said the state would be governed by constitutional declaration, and another committee would be formed to draft the constitution, “which is what certain groups want as revenge.”
